My technical basis as a state-certified mechanical engineering professional has taken me to many interesting locations around the world. About 11 years ago, I established myself as a technical employee, mostly in management positions. My range of tasks has always been characterized by exciting topics, these enabled me to steadily expand my wealth of experience. It is because of my inquisitive and proactive nature, being a generalist and autodidact, that I can look back on such a wealth of experience. Since my career took place in equal parts in Germany and in my second home New Zealand, you can assume that I am highly competent in both languages.

· Leadership skills as operations manager of interdisciplinary departments in the
plastics processing industry
· Training, employee development and change management
· Workshop management of a production department in the commercial vehicle industry
with focus in construction machinery, and of a production department for aircraft interior
parts made of plastics in the aerospace supply industry
· Production planning in the plastics processing industry with a focus in CNC machining
(in alternating shifts), in pipeline and apparatus construction (including field installation),
in bonding and the plastics processing, as well as in the thermoforming (vacuum forming)
· Overall responsibility for occupational safety issues in production companies,
including the creation of risk assessments, the creation of operation instructions,
managing hazardous goods registers and being a member of the Occupational Safety
Committee
· Maintenance management of plants and production machinery
· Process optimization in quality management (ISO 9001, EN9100)
· Internal sales and technical consulting on semi-finished plastic products and
machined plastic components
· Production relocation of assemblies in the aerospace industry

A beach chair is a special piece of seating and relaxation furniture for the beach. It consists of a two-part wooden frame with wickerwork. Its upper element forms a semicircular arched, covered seating niche. Due to its lining with weatherproof material, it protects against wind, sun, rain and sand drift when you are on the beach. Extendable foot boxes, awnings and folding tables offer the user some comfort.

Strandkörbe are found at nearly all beach seafront resorts of the North Sea and Baltic Sea in Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, as well as other beach seafronts where sudden fluctuations in adverse weather conditions and wind gusts can prevail. The Strandkorb beach-chair is considered a cult object of German “Gemütlichkeit”, which has survived two world wars, social and industrial revolutions and the East-West divide of Germany. From spring to autumn, they can usually be rented from beach-chair wardens (German “Strandkorbwärter”). Two different shapes can be distinguished, the straight angular North Sea variety and the round rolling Baltic Sea variety.

History:

The manufacture of wicker-armchair furniture with covered high-rising hoods have been known and handed down in the European basket makers craft-work since the late 16th-century. The furniture was used mainly for large cold rooms and draughty indoor settings. Its use is known in both town and farm houses in the Netherlands and Germany, in the 18th-century such seating furniture were also found in palaces in England, Scotland and Ireland.

Regardless of the forerunners, the Rostock court basket maker Wilhelm Bartelmann (1845–1930) is widely regarded as the inventor of the beach chair. In this context, the story of its origins has been handed down, according to which in the spring of 1882 an elderly lady named Elfriede von Maltzahn, suffering from rheumatism, wanted a protective seat on the beach so that she could enjoy a summer stay in Warnemünde despite illness. The master then created a single-seater initially called a beach chair made of wicker and cane, which he covered with a gray awning fabric.

The number of “Strandkörbe” standing on German beaches is estimated at 100,000 to 130,000, which are looked after and rented by several hundred beach chair attendants. The seasonal business runs from April to October and starts with spring cleaning and bringing the chairs to the beach. Nowadays this work is mostly done by tractors, in some places horse-drawn carts are still used because of the nature of the terrain or for nature conservation reasons.
